At Yearlify, we believe your memories are personal and should stay that way. We've built our service with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought.

Information We Collect

Information We DON'T Collect

• Your photos or project contents through the editor
• Account details: the editor does not ask for a name, email, or address
• Account credentials - we don't require signup
• Location data from your photos
• Image metadata sent to our servers; capture dates are read locally to suggest months

Information We MAY Collect

• Usage analytics: When enabled, Umami helps us understand page views and feature usage. Our custom events send action names, such as an export action, without photos, captions, filenames, or project contents.
• Technical Data: Basic technical information like browser type, screen size, and general geographic region (country level) may be collected for improving user experience.

How Your Data is Processed

When you make a monthly recap or year collage:

1. Photos stay local: When you add photos, Yearlify processes them in your browser and stores image data in a local browser database (IndexedDB). Original capture dates, when available, help suggest months without leaving your device.
2. Artwork and downloads: Your browser renders the collage and creates image or PDF downloads on your device.
3. Saving projects: Autosave, when enabled, keeps your current workspace in this browser. A downloaded .ylf backup includes your photos and edits. We do not receive it. Keep a backup before clearing browser data, which removes local work.
4. Sharing:The image-sharing action sends the generated collage to an app you choose. If you share a .ylf backup yourself, that file includes the project's photos. The receiving app's privacy practices then apply.

Third-Party Services

Google AdSense

Yearlify uses Google AdSense to support the free service. When ads are enabled, Google and other advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to serve and measure ads. Advertising cookies may personalize ads based on visits to this and other websites. Yearlify does not send your photos or project contents as advertising data. You can manage Google ad personalization by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Read more about how Google uses information from partner sites.

Analytics

When analytics is enabled, Yearlify loads Umami to measure website usage. Custom feature events contain action names only. We do not attach your photos, captions, or project contents to those events.

Cookies

The studio writes a sidebar-state cookie when you open or close its sidebar. It also uses local browser storage for preferences, photo data, and autosaved work. When ads are enabled, advertising providers may set or read cookies. You can manage cookies and site storage in your browser settings; clearing site storage also removes locally saved work.

Data Security

Local photo processing avoids uploading your photo collection to Yearlify. It does not prevent someone with access to your device or browser profile from opening saved work. Protect your device and keep project backups somewhere you trust. The website uses HTTPS to protect connections in transit.

Children's Privacy

Yearlify is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Parents should supervise children's use of the website and any third-party services linked from it.

Your Rights

You can edit your photos and collages in the studio and remove locally stored work through your browser's site-data controls. Downloaded images and .ylf backups must be deleted separately from wherever you saved them. Advertising providers process data under their own policies and provide their own privacy controls.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
